A guide to all the Christmas markets and must visit spots in Colmar during Christmas time🎄✨
Maison Au Pelerin
Maison dite "au Pèlerin" is undoubtedly Colmar's most iconic photo spot. It’s one of those places that pops up everywhere on Instagram, making it impossible to miss when browsing through travel feeds or doing your research.

They maintain the decor of this souvenir shop year-round, changing the display to match the seasons. In winter, the windows are filled with snowflakes, teddy bears, and adorable seals.
See MoreLa Petite Venise
Located in Colmar’s charming Little Venice area, the Children’s Market is a delightful surprise for visitors of all ages. Don’t be misled by the name – adults will have just as much fun! The Petite Venise neighborhood is incredibly picturesque, making it worth taking the time to wander and enjoy the stunning scenery. To my surprise, this market became one of my favorites due to its cozy, intimate atmosphere.

Here, you can also enjoy children’s rides or take a spin on the Ferris wheel. If you're looking to try something beyond the typical Christmas market fare, the Gourmet Market in Colmar is the perfect spot. It features nine booths, each run by a chef serving up a range of Alsatian specialties and gourmet dishes, such as black truffle risotto, chestnut soup, and fresh oysters.
See MorePlace de l'Ancienne Douane
If I had to choose my top 3 Christmas markets in Colmar, the one at Place de l’Ancienne Douane would certainly make the cut. This market stretches along the canal and surrounds the beautiful Schwendi Fountain, with about 50 chalets offering a wide variety of goods. From popular tourist souvenirs to a rich selection of Alsatian food, handicrafts, and wines, it has the most extensive offerings of all the Christmas markets in Colmar.
See MoreAncienne Douane
Just beside the lively Place de l’Ancienne Douane market stands the historic Koïfhus building, which dates back to the 15th century. Once serving as the Customs House, it was a vital hub for taxing goods in medieval times. Today, it continues its trading legacy as the venue for Colmar’s only indoor Christmas market.
Inside, about 20 local artisans display their craft, including ceramicists, potters, sculptors, jewellery makers, and bakers. It’s the ideal place to find unique, high-quality regional handicrafts.
See MorePlace Jeanne d'Arc
The Christmas market at Place Jeanne D’Arc may be one of the smaller ones in Colmar, but it’s a real treasure for anyone seeking authentic Alsatian specialties. Designed to resemble a traditional Alsatian village, the stalls offer a range of delights, from foie gras and homemade jams to cheeses, meats, honey, eco-friendly wines, and an assortment of baked goods.
Since it’s quieter than the larger markets, it’s the perfect spot for a quick bite or to pick up some treats to bring home.
See MorePlace des Dominicains
The market itself is a charming mix of food, ornaments, and handmade crafts. As night falls, the church’s stained glass windows glow, casting a magical atmosphere over the city.
See MorePlace Rapp
Place Rapp may not officially be a Christmas market, but it’s definitely a spot you shouldn’t miss when visiting Colmar.
There’s also an ice rink and even a mini rollercoaster for those looking for a bit of adventure.
With most visitors flocking to the main Christmas markets, it offered a more peaceful atmosphere to enjoy the festive spirit.
See MoreQuai de la Poissonnerie
Quai de la Poissonnerie is a picturesque street situated in the historic fishmonger’s district, where Colmar’s fishermen and boatmen once resided. Sadly, a devastating fire in 1706 destroyed 40 of the original homes. However, thanks to restoration efforts between 1978 and 1981, we can now admire these colorful half-timbered houses once more.
See MoreMarché Couvert Colmar
If you're in Colmar and a fan of great food, you can’t miss Marché Couvert. This indoor market is packed with a wide array of local delights, from fresh fruits and vegetables to irresistible cheeses, meats, and, of course, excellent local wines and craft beers. As you wander through, you’ll find yourself surrounded by both locals picking up their daily essentials and tourists searching for delicious bites.
See MoreBrasserie des Tanneurs
If you're looking for the perfect Insta shot, be sure to visit Brasserie des Tanneurs. It's not just a great spot for holiday photos – the rustic wooden decor is beautiful year-round. Plus, if you're in the mood to try some local Alsatian dishes, it comes highly recommended.
See MoreMaison Pfister
As you explore the area, make sure to pause and appreciate the stunning facade of Maison Pfister. With its two-storey corner bay, wooden gallery, turret, and frescoes depicting both biblical and secular scenes, it’s a true architectural gem. While the interior isn’t open for tours, there’s a charming shop on the ground floor offering a variety of Alsatian products – ideal for a quick look or to grab a souvenir.
