Chiu Quon Bakery
i've been going to this bakery since i was a baby! there is no competition. do not go to any bakery hut Chiu Quon! Must get the BBQ pork buns, egg custard and anything that catches your eye! They also have dim sum. My childhood favorites were all of those plus ham & egg bun and hot dog bun 🤣

My grandma used to have our entire family gather here once a month for the most delicious family style dinner. The best dishes are the fish filet with japanese and vegetables, shrimp with lobster sauce (can also get a whole lobster with it), a whole steamed flounder, and their egg rolls. you'll come back just for the egg rolls.

I just came here for the first time and WOW. My mom and uncle are Chinese and took my sister here a few months ago, they haven't stopped telling me about it. Must get the beef tenderloin pieces, fish filet with vegetables, pan fried beef thick rice noodles and their Chinese vegetable dishes. 10/10

Growing up, this is where my family got their weekly stock of meat to eat with rice and vegetables every night for dinner. Everything is good, but we always get the pork with crispy skin, barbecue pork, and sometimes the soy sauce chicken. You can't go wrong here.

The only place I take my friends to dim sum when they come to visit. My family's favorites are: pork and shrimp dumplings (shu mai), steamed rice rolls with shrimp, steamed rice rolls with bbq pork, stick rice with pork and mushroom in banana leafs, the baked AND steamed bbq pork buns, potstickers, and their main dishes are divine as well. Try the pan-fried thick rice noodles with beef and a veggie dish. Or really, there are so many things to choose from. Eat it all!

Ooooh now this is a spot known for its Szechuan cuisine. I started going here in high school. They have delicious spicy dishes with unique flavors. This might sound very touristy, but I always got the mushu pork that comes with wraps and the hoisin sauce. HEAVEN. I need to go back and try more things.

High quality sushi, insanely beautiful and uniquely charming restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Service is amazing. My favorite is the salmon nigiri, gomae spinach with sesame sauce appetizer, Wakamono roll, and my mom loves their ramen. Their rolls are absolutely exceptional. if you're lucky and go soon (right now it is June 2024) they might still have the roll we had last night: The Lucky Dragon.

ULTIMATE COMFORT and quality. My grandfather on my dad's side is Japanese, so we ate a lot of bbq chicken, spam and macaroni salad growing up. By far, this place makes the best of all categories in Chicago. It's so hard to find a place that makes authentic Hawaiian food in this city. The saimin noodles with wontons is amazing. You'll know it's good just by the broth.

A classic sushi spot my family and i go to or order in from at least twice a month. They don't just have sushi, but comfort food dishes like Katsudon, which is a breaded pork dish with eggs and a sweet savory soy sauce that rivals those made in Japan. The ramen is to die for, especially the Tonkatsu ramen (rich flavorful broth). My favorites are the gomae spinach appetizer with sesame sauce and the rainbow roll (basically a california roll with raw fish on top, i always ask for only salmon for a slight upcharge because i just love salmon 😂)
