East 6th Street
This is where most of the action is, from shops to bars and restaurants, there's something along every block from i35 to Chicon St.

The ultimate East side bar - it used to be much more "grungy" in my day but it is still a fave spot for locals and tourists alike.

Day 2

Micklethwait Barbecue
My personal fave bbq in all of Austin - usually a line so get there before opening (or later in the day). Ample seating but not tons of parking.

Hillside Farmacy
One of the most quintessential East Austin brunch spots, ever. A decade ago I was sitting in the patio with a friend enjoying brunch and someone driving by yelled out of a truck "this looks like a scene from Portlandia" - he wasn't wrong and I wasn't offended. It's quintessential Austin.

Texas Farmers' Market at Mueller
The best farmers market - grab food to eat here or take it to go and walk around the lake! Loads of amazing vendors selling crafts, handmade goods, delicious food and more.

Whether you're with family, friends or your date, it's the perfect place for a stroll (if it's not 110 degrees out)
