If there's one place not to miss in Death Valley, it's Badwater Basin. The lowest point in North America (282 feet below sea level) and has been known to reach some of the highest temperatures ever recorded. At different times of year, the basin can have a layer of water covering it, making it a very cool view at sunset—if you want to see this, check before you go. The best time to visit the basin is November through March as summer temps can be dangerous.
