For the famed pasta asesina, AKA killer pasta, Al Sorso Preferito is where it was born. The dish is a fiery, crunchy tomato pasta dish from Bari, Italy, cooked directly in a pan rather than boiled... Very unexpected, and probably not my favorite, but I am glad I tried it. It is a local, old-fashioned restaurant in Bari that doesn't feel overdone.

Seeing the nonnas in Bari making pasta is a MUST. Although this spot has become a tourist favorite, it is still totally worth it IMO. There are makers with full shops, and there are still a few that make it out of their homes. Buy a bag of the handmade pasta to cook at the hostel!

BookTrullo Sovrano
Right around the corner from my hotel, the Trullo Sovrano is a trulli house museum detailing their uses as low-key, inexpensive farm homes. It was a rainy afternoon, so this was a great stop for a taste of history in this region. Each room has different exhibition pieces, and you pay a small entrance fee to explore. Trullo Sovrano is also one of the only 2-story homes, how cool!

A casual wine bar we stopped into after a long day of traveling to Alberobello (a canceled bus and then a train/taxi combo later...) The red wine was perfectly paired with all sorts of appetizers & bites from local flavors. It's sort of hidden & underground, so you have to spot the staircase and head in!
