This is my favorite Charleston beach. It's about 25 minutes from downtown. A great place for an early morning run or walk. All the locals walk their dogs here in the morning, so there's a lot to look at.

Looking for a good place to run? Tons of people like to run or walk over this iconic bridge on the designated pedestrian sidewalk. You can park off East Bay Street for the Charleston pedestrian entrance. There is also free parking on the Mt. Pleasant side just near the pedestrian entrance. Mt. Pleasant/Shem Creek area is also nice for running or head out to Sullivan's Island or Isle of Palms beaches.

If you have a car and it's springtime, head here to see the gardens or Magnolia Gardens. They're right next to each other, so you could do both! This is a drive from downtown, probably 30-40 minutes. However, the road you take to get here and to Magnolia is stunning with oak trees draped over it.
