Day 1 (Arrival)

Harry's Po-Boys
Great halfway point to Grand Isle to grab some fresh po-boys. Nicole was very welcoming and the shrimp po-boy is a must!

Lafitte Woods Nature Preserve Grilletta Tract
This preserve was the highlight of my trip! Dozens of bird species can be spotted on a short walk through these woods. Make sure to bring your camera and binoculars!

Hurricane Hole Restaurant
Just a short walk from the Hurricane Hole Hotel, this restaurant was our favorite on the island! The creamy crawfish pasta and crab cakes were exceptional! The marina was a great spot to birdwatch and catch the sunset.

Day 2

Starfish Restaurant
Very few options for breakfast on the island but Starfish was always reliable! Servers were kind and food was always brought out quickly and fresh. The Spanish omelette with hashbrowns was a great start to my day!

Kayak launch
Rented kayaks from Bayou Adventure, who had their own kayak kiosk at the launch. It was convenient and easy to access. The kayak launch was a great spot to take off and explore the surrounding marshes. We were able to get up close to Brown Pelicans and Osprey, making it an unforgettable experience!

Grand Isle Beach
This scenic beach stretches along most of the island so there is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. Plenty of activity from the Brown Pelicans, Royal and Lesser Terns. ATVs are allowed on the beach so you can also enjoy a drive!

Elmers Island
This hidden gem was an adventure! Take the scenic drive all the way to Elmer's Island Beach where you can potentially see the threatened Piping Plover and Red Knot! Its diverse landscapes of marshes, beaches and dunes have something to offer for everyone!

Camardelles Seafood
This seafood market is a hot spot on the island! Buy fresh boiled seafood by the pound and experience the Cajun tradition of crawfish! Go early in the day because they sell out fast!

Meagan's Snowball Stand
Although this spot is known for their snowballs, they had the best cookies and cream waffle cone I've ever had! Definitely a must while visiting the island. It was the perfect treat after a warm day on the water and beach.

Day 3 (Departure)

Amaris Isle
The Nature Conservancy hosts birding tours in this private community and for a good reason! This mitigation pond is home to a variety of species. We were able to spot Roseate Spoonbills and a Green Heron!
