One thing you absolutely must do in Newport: Drive Ocean Ave.! Begin here at "the end" of the Cliff Walk.
A great little beach to stop at to relax and have a snack.
Just past mid-way into your 10-mile drive on Ocean Ave., stop here for a break and some stunning photo opportunities.
After your drive, this is great place for a cocktail. Relax in an adirondak chair on the lawn and gaze at the view or grab a spot at the bar. If you plan to a full meal, you need a reservation. (You can also stay here if you want to splurge a little. If you're a fan of the Real Housewives of New York, you'll recognize this place along with the Clarke Cooke House and The Black Pearl.)
Everyone needs at least a few hours to chill on the beach.
Sunday brunch has a great $30 prix fixe menu that comes with mimosas or Bloody Marys plus chocolate mousse for dessert!
A must-do in Newport! The 3.5-mile walk is stunning and you can see one of Newport's famous mansions along the way.
Newport is known for its amazing mansions. Definitely take time to tour at least one of them. This one was built in the late 1800s as the summer residence for Cornelius Vanderbilt II. (Seeing all of them will take a couple of days.)
