Tunnels Beach
Tunnels Beach (or Makua Beach) on Kauai's north shore gets its name from the lava tubes that make up its large reef. In summer, this is a super popular spot for snorkeling as the waves are calm, but in winter, stronger surf and bigger waves mean this beach becomes a hotspot for surfers!
Parking here can be tricky, as the only real area is along Alealea Road. It can be full by 8 a.m. Instead, try parking at Ha'ena Beach Park, which is about a half-mile walk.
