Caption: __ Every 21 seconds someone
in the U.S. sustains a traumatic
brain injury.
Caption: #amelonaday In 2001 my brother sustained a traumatic brain injury. He passed away four years later. Still, In 27 years he lived a very full life and his early passing has inspired me to do the same.
I'm currently carrying a melon with me every day for 100 days to generate awareness for TBI.
Caption: - EACH YEAR, AT LEAST - 1.7 MILLION TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURIES
OCCUR WITHIN THE U.S.
Caption: A few months ago I read the Marc Peruzzi article in Outside Magazine called 'After the Crash.'
The feature image was a duct taped watermelon. This photo had a profound effect on me.

Caption: Something clicked, and I began to approach the same concept.
When my friend Elle (@elleluna) asked me to find a way to incorporate melons into my own take on #the100dayproject...months of thought and creative experimentation came together.

People from all around the world and country have started to participate on their own, sharing their photos with melons and the hashtag #amelonaday.
I’ve partnered up with my friends Kev and Adam Pearce of Love Your Brain and The Crash Reel to generate as much awareness as possible.

Caption: The Melon is beautiful and it photographs really well. It has a hard shell but soft inside much like our heads and it's widely accessible, not expensive and easy to find.
I'd love for you to participate and follow along on Steller and Instagram: @ticamide and @amelonaday.
