Caption: Destination: EU "Every time I look into the newspaper, there is another suicide attack in Pakistan. I feel that this is not my country anymore", says Imran while his eyes are turning sad. Three years ago he moved with his wife Hina from his hometown Behawalpur in the southwest of Pakistan to the city Bonn, Germany. Here he is completing his masters in International Media Studies. However, it was his mom who convinced him to start a new life in Europe: "She could have stopped me from going to Germany. Instead she told me: 'Imran, you've got your own dreams and ambitions. You've got your own life. Don't look at me.'"

Caption: Search for status Imran was finally granted a scholarship that covers his costs to study in Germany. He moved to a student dorm, successfully completed internships and took several jobs. He even resumed to play cricket, his favorite sports from Pakistan. But what was most important to him was his education, the main reason why his mom sent him here: "I can't wait for the day when I'll hold my diploma in my hands. She will be very proud of me having achieved this kind of status", Imran explains with a smile. However, he is not sure whether he will be able to present his certificate to his mom in person. At this moment Imran can't afford a flight to Pakistan.

Caption: Home sick home "I love Germany but from time to time I feel homesick because I miss my mom and my family", admits Imran. "If I got a good job here in Germany, it would be great. It would be easier to invite my mom here", says Imran. Here his mom could enjoy one of the best medical facilities. She has been living with a heart disease since she was a child. In Germany Imran could take better care of her than in Pakistan. But what would he do if he got a job offer in his former home country? "I'm in between. There I could be with my mom and we would also live in a nice city. Whatever is the best option for us, we'll go or we stay", says Imran.
