Caption: I'd never been to Yosemite before, really only knowing it because I have consistently confused it with Yellowstone throughout our trip. As we drove to the park entrance on 120 I was shocked by the fire devastation on the valley rim.

Caption: Reaching the valley floor was like entering another world from the moonscape rim. Fall was in full bloom and the vibrant colors transported me back to New England, if only for a brief moment.

Caption: The rock climbing in Yosemite is world renowned. With granite cliffs shooting to the sky all around you from the meadowed valley floor it's a crucible for much progress in modern climbing. Knowing that didn't prepare me for just how imposing they are. I craned my neck back and stared in awe.

Caption: El Capitan The voices of climbers above fell down to my ears, but no matter how much squinting I did, I couldn't locate their ant like outlines upon the 3,000 ft tall face.

Caption: The Golden Hour? Because of the massive walls to the narrow valley, the sun only have full illumination of the valley for an hour or so before before sending the western valley into fast creeping shadow. It was the most drastic light I've ever seen, leaving the impression of living in the "Golden Hour".

Caption: The Falls Yosemite is known for it's many falls. During the spring they roar down into the valley often remaking the landscape. While we visited most were a trickle, leaving us to only imagine their full power. We'll be back I'd say.
