Caption: Our adventure snowballed into momentum as soon as the words came out of my mouth.
David and I were four miles up Rattlesnake Canyon when the urgent itch for a road trip hit me. We dropped all plans for the week, hurried back to the car, packed the camping gear (in record time - 15 minutes), brewed a pot of coffee, picked up the rental car and were off to Yellowstone.
Five hours and many Rod Stewart songs later, we were snuggled in our sleeping bags at Mammoth Hot Springs.
