Caption: DIY Yarn Puff Ball
Caption: SUPPLIES:
Yarn (color of choice; I would suggest a fluffy yarn for this project)
Card stock or thick paper (I used a recycled pizza coupon handout)
Scissors
Pencil/Drawing Compass
Caption: Cut two identical circles out of thick paper or card stock. Make the diameter of the big outside circle the size you want your puff ball to be. Then make the inside circle about 1 inch smaller than the big outside circle.
Picture
Caption: Using the yarn, spin a mini yarn ball that fits through the small inside circle of the cut out. Cut off the mini yarn ball leaving a tail to work with.
Video
Caption: While holding the two circle cut-outs together face-to-face, place the tail of the mini yarn ball against one of the sides of the circle cut-outs. Behind wrapping the mini yarn ball around the outside of the circle cut-outs and through the center circle.
Picture
Caption: After the circles are completely covered with yarn and you can barely fit a mini yarn ball through the middle hole, begin cutting the yarn around the circumference of the big circle.

Caption: When finished cutting all the yarn, spread the two circles apart slightly and use a long piece of yarn to tie a tight knot around the center of the puff ball between the two circles.

Caption: Cut a slit in each of the paper circles and remove from puff ball. Fluff up your puff ball and you're done!

Caption: With the excess yarn tails, you can attach the puff ball to a knitted hat by weaving the tails into the hat and tying off to finish.
