Caption: A childhood in Africa means that snow is a novelty every time it comes. On this February morning, I awoke with a thrill to find that deep snowfall overnight had buried the landscape in a soft white blanket. Giant snow flakes drifted past the window as I hastily packed a camera, a flask of homemade soup and a nip of single malt in a hip flask. Pulling on my boots I hurried out to spend a perfect day hiking in the crisp cold winter light.
