The archipelago is a place of immense beauty.

Caption: Unlike most other islands in the archipelago, on Utö they lived not primarily on fishing and agriculture, but by the iron mines on the island. The mining operation started already in the 1100s and lasted for 700 years. You can still see the mining holes and the miners dwellings are today coveted summerhouses.
