Caption: Who We Are U-EXPLORE is an academic program in the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism at the University of Utah. We program courses for over 1,500 students and community members annually in 65 courses per semester. Fly Fishing? Check. Bird Behavior and Observation? Bingo. Stand-up Paddleboarding? That too. U-EXPLORE has over 30 different course types.

Caption: Theoretically Grounded Our programs are theoretically grounded in the social and natural sciences. Place attachment, attention restoration, sense of place, and self-determination are several of the guiding theories integrated into our courses. We work with researchers on several of our courses to better understand how these constructs operate.

Caption: Supported and Stable Our administrative staff consists of two full-time coordinators, an administrative assistant, and a graduate assistant. We are adequately funded and highly supported. We have been operating for over 60 years throughout the Wasatch and Utah.
