Picture
Caption: Coffee at home is one of the most loved little pleasures of life in Italy.
I'd love to share with you how I usually make mine.
Picture
Caption: The Bialetti Moka Express pot was invented in 1933 and it's still produced today with the same design.
The moka pot is a staple item for every Italian kitchen, each one can last a lifetime and as the legend goes, the older the pot, the better the coffee.

Caption: First I fill the boiler with water up to the safety valve. If I want to spoil myself, I use bottled water.

Caption: Then comes coffee powder. It has to be moka (not espresso) coffee powder. I keep it in a jar in the fridge, like my grandma used to do.
Picture
Caption: I place the filter on the boiler and fill it with coffee (and I always spill a little of it). How much and how pressed? That's where the magic is.
Picture

The wait is on. How long? Never measured time, but suddenly...

Coffee is done!

twist before serving.

in a tiny glass, with a pinch
of sugar and a drop of
cold milk.

Next time you make coffee, make it for a loved one, back home after
a rough day.
That's real Italian coffee.
