Caption: We sat in her driveway, I was in the passenger seat of my car, door open. She sat on the concrete intently listening. It was 1999. I was 18 and she was 17. Mineral played over my old car stereo as we talked, still gauging the love that we'd recently discovered was ours.

Caption: There are things that happen when love is new. The scent of a lotion, a favorite shirt, a sound in a song that connects you in a way you can't explain. As if your chests are drawn together and no space exists between your open, naked hearts.
Caption: P A R K I N G L O T I wouldn't mind if you took me in my sleep tonight
I wouldn't even put up a fight
I wouldn't care if you took it all away today
I'm sure I wouldn't even miss the pain
But I know I've got to live my life
And roll around on the ground and feel the strife
And realize along the way that I'm nothing more
Than a grain of salt in the salt of the eart
And everything is grace
So come on with the darkness
Come on with the fear
Cause I've got to start somewhere
And it might as well be here
When I'm finally naked and standing in the sunlight
I'll look back at all of this selfishness and foolish pride
And laugh at myself

Caption: The song Parking Lot is what longing sounds like. It was the song we danced to at our wedding 4 years later. The memories and feelings that song elicits are still raw, real, now.

Caption: Out of the blue, a friend told us that Mineral, after nearly 20 years of being split up, were doing a reunion tour and were playing in Nashville, Tn only four hours away from where we were staying at the time.

Caption: When Mineral played Parking Lot, Jess and I held each other as tightly as we could, 16 years of Us spilling out of Fender amps. As we wept in disbelief and awe, our chests met again like that night in her driveway. I was 18, she was 17.

It was a night we will never forget.
