We drove 4 hours to Trat City and took
a small speed boat over to the quaint
island of Koh Mak. This island is owned
by five families who have managed to
keep ownership of their land and have
promoted tourism on their terms.
While Koh Mak lacks the amenities
other islands have ( no malls or 7/11s) it
has more than enough to do, and it's
current focus is on promoting itself as
a low carbon destination.
