Caption: Souq Waqif has existed for centuries and was the spot where Bedu would bring their sheep, goats and wool to trade. The souq became this scruffy warren with concrete alleyways and was once even condemned for demolition, however luckily the potential for an authentic tourist destination was discovered.

Caption: Qurum Natural Park was opened in 1993 and is the largest park in Muscat. The park contains a large boating lake and fountain, 'Waterfall Hill', Sultan Qaboos' Rose Garden and many meandering pathways.
