Keep your kitchen stocked throughout the winter by planting your own vegetable container garden.

Caption: Edible gardens thrive in the cooler weather. Use hardy vegetables and greens like broccoli, cabbage, kale, leeks, parsley, beets, spinach, carrots, swiss chard, and herbs in your fall veggie containers.

Caption: MATERIALS
• Herbs/Greens
(we used French Thyme, Swiss Kale, and Rosemary)
• Organic Container Soil. Our preferred brand is Organic Mechanics.
• Pruners or Garden Shears
• Any container
*optional- gravel or pebbles for drainage

Caption: If your chosen container doesn't have drainage holes, make sure you line the bottom with a layer of gravel or stones.

Caption: Add some soil into your container.

Caption: Gently pull the plant out of the plastic container, and break apart the root ball.

Caption: Put your first plant into the container. Trim off any yellowing/unhealthy leaves.

Caption: Continue to add the remaining plants. Make sure they all have enough space in the container!

Caption: Cover the roots with soil to the top of the container.

Your container can live indoors in a sunny windowsill, or outdoors until the first frost.
