Caption: In January 2014, I received a grant to travel to Copenhagen to conduct primary research for my senior thesis. I wrote about the social and spatial development of New York and Copenhagen's Meatpacking Districts. My dad came along for the fun. We ate amazing food (noma) and decided the Danes are very lovely people.

Caption: I was trying to establish whether one Meatpacking District had stronger claims to authenticity over the other. Long story short, I end my thesis by arguing that we only truly understand what a postmodern urban space "means" when we look beyond (or through) architectural add-ons and trends and focus instead on individual narratives. In other words, neither is "more authentic" because you can experience authentic, real moments in both places.
