Caption: One of my favorite unexpected bonuses of veganism is how it changes the course of my travels. I've driven, or rode, many miles across this country and previously stuck to rest stops and chains along the way. In search of a good vegan meal, I find myself putting in a little more effort and willingness to travel off the beaten path - being lead to places and experiences I never would have found otherwise. Bloodroot is no exception.

You then place your order with the co-founder at the receptionists desk, and wait for your name when your order is ready to pick up at the window. Bloodroot was still decorated from celebrating their 39th anniversary. Quite a feat!

Caption: Bloodroot is a vegan-friendly, vegetarian "Feminist Restaurant". I was happy to learn they now make their own vegan cheese and ice cream. Co-founder, Selma, proudly showed off their previous night's dinner menu which was 100% vegan.
