Caption: 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
Peel of 1 orange
12 tbsp salted butter, softened
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
3/4 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1 egg, room temp
7 oz semisweet chocolate, roughly chopped

Caption: Night before: combine butter, basil and orange peel in a small bowl. Mix thoroughly.
Turn the butter out onto a piece of plastic wrap and roll into a log. Store in the fridge over night. (For extra flavor, wrap a couple of extra basil leaves around the log of butter prior to chilling).

Caption: The day of: Add your orange-basil butter to a saucepan over med-low heat. Heat until it foams up and smells nutty, about 15 minutes (stir frequently). Turn off the heat, add the vanilla and cool for 10 min. Strain this browned butter through a sieve, pushing it through to get as much out as possible.

Caption: Combine next 6 ingredients in a large bowl. Add the browned butter. Mix.
Add the egg. Mix. Add the chocolate. Mix. Scoop the dough into 2-tablespoon-full mounds onto a cookie sheet. Chill for at least 1 hour.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 8 - 10 minutes.
