Caption: Asthma What IS it?
Caption: Søren has asthma. We knew it early on but didn't know what an attack looked like, always imagined it like in the movies - your kid so obviously lacking oxygen that you respond in a life or death kind of way.
It wasn't like that.
He just coughed a lot. And his stomach puffed up and deflated so dramatically as he worked so hard for
breath. But he played and ran... And ended up in the emergency room for a week.
Caption: He was prescribed steroids morning and night for a year. After a week he shook so much we quit the steroids and kept them as a back up.
We treat him with Drosera Rotundifolia, hot tea, hot baths with essential oils and a lot of other things of this nature. We monitor his breathing, his heart rate, the rate of the air flow in and out of his lungs.
He still has flair ups, but is mostly okay. (Doesn't keep me from staying awake a week at a time when he starts the coughing.)

Caption: Parenting is so confusing.
Caption: The trouble is, to me, he looks and sounds fine. But I
stay up all night and worry anyway. The same exact thing happened when he ended up in the hospital.
He and Silas have the same sounding cough to-day, and Silas doesn't have asthma.
Parenting is REALLY hard.
