THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD Port Campbell National Park
Caption: Last June, winter had been slow to arrive. So we took our chances to hit the road and catapult ourselves as far away from the city as we could get for the shortest of weekends.
It also happened to be a milestone birthday and perhaps as good a time as any to get lost in nature and get a new perspective on things.

Caption: As we drove further from the city our minds got lost in the wide open spaces; the tension found its release and a lightness came over us.
Buildings became more sparse, green fields stretched to the horizon and above us clouds formed into shapes of our imaginations.

Caption: Out along the coast of the open water, the Southern Ocean is a blended mix of steel blue and aqua. Each wave crashing into the pale ochre limestone stacks to foam into sheets of white.
However further in, in areas such as the Loch Ard Gorge, the water somehow takes on a richer, deeper blue almost as if turning cobalt.

Then all to soon, it was home time.
