Recently I planned a week long road trip to Maine. When I was planning this trip I wanted to work in a trip to the White Mountains in NH. Specifically I wanted to hike up Mt. Chocorua. It's about a 4.5 mile hike in and an elevation gain of around 2,700ft. There are a few different routes to the top, I used Piper Trail. Round trip it was about 5 hours, 9 miles and a lot of up and down. The following pages are a few images from the hike.
I took this shot the day before the hike about a mile from the campground. You can see the rocky summit sticking at the top.
A shot of the summit from the trail, still a couple miles out.
A trail marker, this one is about A half mile from the summit.
About a mile from the top there is a large group of flat rocks with some amazing views.
The climb gets really interesting as you close in on the summit. Hands and feet were in full use.
A shot from the top.
Summit Marker ___________ Mount Chocorua is a summit in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. At an elevation of 3,490 feet (1,064 m) it is the easternmost peak of the Sandwich Range. Although the range is not outstanding for its elevation, it is very rugged and has excellent views of the surrounding lakes, mountains, and forests. ___________
