Throughout my career I have worked a number of hurricane assignments, non of which began to prepare me for the day my neighborhood, my family, and my friends would be impacted.
Irma was brutal, but through it true hero's rose from the rubble. Each day my phone is filled with text and messages from friends and family offering us a place to live, a helping hand watching the boys, help to rebuild, or a simple meal. These small and large acts of kindness is what makes the overwhelming tasks at hand achievable. Friendships are made and humanity's best colors shine through.
This community is stronger than ever. I feel very lucky that we had a home to come home to. Some of our neighbors were not as fortunate.
