LEGEND OF THE DANCING TREES
THE SPEULDER FOREST
THIS STORY PLANTED TEN TREES.
One day a group of friends, some are ‘Stellerettes’ ( @sandraengels73 @karen_claudia_ @plndm and me @simone_wit ) went outdoors to the Forest of the Dancing Trees, located in the heart of the Netherlands. We share two passions: photography and enjoying magical moments in nature. This day we longed to capture the amazing curvy trees about which a legend has been told.
RESPECT NATURE: IT’S A MIRACLE WE DEPEND ON.
Curious about the legend? Well, This is the Legend of the Dancing Trees: The Speulder forest used to be a place where it haunted at night. A creepy story, a legend, was told about the forest with the "dancing trees" in the farms in the area: Centuries ago a musician roamed the area. Nobody knows his name anymore. He played the violin in inns and lodgings in the villages of the Veluwe. One day he walked through the Speulderbos with his violin under his arm. He played the night before at Staverden Castle. The noblemen from Staverden had organized a big ball, to which the gentlewomen were invited and they asked him to come and play on his violin. It was wonderful if you could play in a castle for once, instead of in a guest house. Unfortunately it was not a nice ball. For the youngsters and the freules it was, but not for him, because the nobility were very annoying to him the whole evening. He had to keep playing, for hours and hours. There was no time to rest. The ball continued well into the night. >>>
The next day, after a short sleep he, still exhausted, started a 10 km walk to village Garderen through the forest. Suddenly he hears hooves on the forest trail: riders. As they come closer, he recognizes one of the nobleman from Staverden. It was the whole company for which he played last night. "Hey, that's our musician. You have to play for us again. Here is a nice open space”, they shouted to him. "The day and the hour are not good for making music," warns the musician. But they insist that he must play. The musician starts playing the violin. Moments later the company is dancing in the open space in the forest. He reluctantly plays the same songs as the night before and doesn't even look at the dancing people. Halfway through a beautiful piece of music his arm suddenly stiffens. He can no longer play and looks up ... All dancers have disappeared. They have turned into trees: crooked trees that seem to embrace each other. As a punishment, the riders have turned into dancing trees. The musician can't believe his eyes. Later that day the musician tells the story in an inn in Garderen, but nobody believes him. "Go and see for yourself in the woods," the musician assures. "Then you will definitely see the dancing trees."
After hours well spent shooting and dancing between the magical trees, we gathered in this café for well deserved drinks and food. Feeling thankful to be able to experience nature like this. steller.co/tentree
