From Buda to Pest
In my search for quaintness in Budapest I chanced upon one of the oldest hotels in the city and decided it would be a good place to stay while in town. As it happened this hotel was located in Buda’s historic castle district. So everyday in the city became a day for us to stroll down from the hills of historic Buda down to the busy buzz of Pest.
The beginning of all our walks: This 700 year old building, also a 200 year old hotel (one of the oldest in Budapest).
The Buda Castle District: Ain’t this just perfectly quaint?
In my mind no walk from Buda would be complete without taking in the sunrise over Pest from the sweeping terraces of Halászbástya (Fisherman’s Bastion).
People who visited the city before me said they just felt so small in the city. It’s easy to see why!
Who needs a Disney castle when you have the Halászbástya!?!
Playing an early morning game of “can you spot the human”.
To Pest, to Pest
Across the Széchenyi Chain Bridge
Our first stop in Pest is the imposing and beautiful neo-gothic Országház
Keeping the faith.
St. Stephen’s Basilica
Ruin bars of Pest: bringing bricks and mortar back to life.
Mazel Tov to the design and the food!
Thermal baths: designed to relax
Continuing our architectural admiration in this café! ❤️
