THE DAVENPORT HOTEL
Dublin • ireland
Located in the heart of Georgian Dublin, The Davenport is the hotel for the cultural explorer combining heritage and history with modern upgrades.
The Davenport dates back to to the early 17th century with neo-classical columns.. It was formerly known as Merrion Hall and was a prayer hall accommodating up to 2,000 worshippers. A fire destroyed the interior in the 1990’s leaving just the facade of the building. The building re-opened as a four-star hotel by the O’Callaghan Hotel Group, a leading privately-owned hotel groups in Ireland.
Modern rooms have been transformed for the modern guest with smart TVs with Chromecast and Dublin’s fastest hotel WiFi (1GB). I also appreciated the multitude of ports for charging everywhere.
The elegance of the Georgian facade continues with a modern elegance inside.
IN THE AREA
The Davenport provides easy access to museums, shopping & cultural attractions. It’s about a 15-20 min walk to Temple Bar or an easy Uber. I also utilized the Hop-On / Hop-Off to zip around Dublin which passes by.
St. Stephen’s Green
This is a gorgeous hotel. I only stayed one-night and would have love to enjoy more of the facilities including the 24-hour gym and dining. It’s a great base for travelers to explore Dublin and have a quieter experience outside Temple Bar.
