Situated by the river Boyne, Slane Castle has been home to the Conyngham family since 1703. In its existing form the Castle was reconstructed under the direction of William Burton Conyngham, together with his nephew the first Marquess Conyngham. The reconstruction dates back to 1785 and is principally the work of: James Gandon, James Wyatt and Francis Johnston. You might have heard of Slane because of the iconic bands who have performed there. They include the Rolling Stones, Queen, David Bowie, The Verve, U2 and so many more.
