Jerpoint Irish Handmade Glass
Part of #DigitalIreland day we visited Jerpoint Glass Studio near Kilkenny which is an Irish handmade company. Established in 1979 by Keith and Kathleen Leadbetter, together with their small team of glass blowers, they have built Jerpoint into an internationally recognised name.
We got shown how the handmade pieces of glass was made by Rory Leadbetter. Watching Rory perform was like watching a magical dance that sees flowing red hot liquid become the beautiful finished piece.
Meet Milo, the family dog, who is in charge of quality control in the studio.
Kim having a go at making glass bowl . It looked easier than it actually was. Rory patiently guided us through the process explaining along the way.
It has been on my bucket list to try glass blowing so I jumped at the chance to make my own glass bubble. What a way to remember Ireland’s digital day!
We then visited the shop to bring back some souvenirs home!
You can book the experience or buy one of their unique handmade glass art pieces from their website below: https://www.jerpointglass.com
