St. Louis Cemetery No. 1

New Orleans, LA

The most famous of the St. Louis Cemeteries. Can only be seen by appointed Tour Guides. It IS a very active Cemetery with up to 30 burials on any given year. And very crowded. They run Tours through there all day. Of all the Tour Companies, we chose Save Our Cemeteries. A non-profit, using their monies in restoring the historic Cemeteries all over Louisiana.

The following picture, might look pretty familiar if you are a fan of Easy Rider, which I am. This is the Lady to whom Peter Fonda sat on her lap. Because it was a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants-movie, Mr. Fonda, never really got ‘permission’ to film in the Cemetery. Needless to say, when the Church saw the movie, they were not pleased. And this is why ALL filming is banned from St. Louis No. 1. Still photography is still good.
