For getting the Oak grey, no paint is used. The Oak is exposed to ammonia causing the tanins in the wood to react grey. READ MORE The effect is a deep into the wood (not just but the surface) grey color. Since some of the wood has more tanins than others, the coloration is different from board to board. The richness is in the variation which is all within the same color tone.
