This holy city is so full of contradictions... Total chaos and at the same time so much of this spirituality... Have you had an experience like this before?
Dust, noise and crazy traffic everywhere...
Safety, hygiene issues, and, lack of infrastructure are perhaps the main concerns and what tourists can reasonably doubt about...
Monkeys; they literally live in the streets looking for bananas!
Main tourist attractions Bhaktapur Patan Durbar square Swayambhunath Temple
You can come across monks every day, since Kopan is a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery located on the outskirts of Kathmandu.
Walk and spin the prayer wheel always clockwise; this direction depicts the movement of the sun across the sky.
According to the Tibetan Buddhist tradition based on the lineage texts (mandra), spinning such a wheel will accumulate wisdom and merit (good karma) and purify negativities (bad karma)!
Enjoy the beautiful sunset at the Monkey Temple.
Nightlife and local music
Locals are friendly, polite, smiling and always willing to help... Talk with them and get to know them!
And of course... the irresistible smell of the food! An integral part of every trip; just taste the local specialties!
*Tip Travel by bus for a taste of eveyday life! **Pay extra attention... Even though this country is situated next to the Himalayas, yet more than half of the population does not have access to safe drinking water!
