PLAOSAN TEMPLE

December 2018

SO, THIS IS FIRST TIME FOR ME VISIT PLAOSAN TEMPLE. PLAOSAN TEMPLE IS IN PLAOSAN HAMLET, BUGISAN VILLAGE, PRAMBANAN DISTRICT, KLATEN REGENCY, CENTRAL JAVA, INDONESIA THIS TEMPLE IS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY ONE KILOMETER NORTHEAST OF THE SEWU TEMPLE OR PRAMBANAN TEMPLE

Plaosan Temple, also known as Kompleks Plaosan, is one of the Buddhist temples in Indonesia, approximately 1.5 km from Prambanan Temple. The Historical Complex of Plaosan Temple is one of the temples in Klaten and is divided into two, namely Plaosan Lor (Lor = North) and Plaosan Kidul (Kidul = South). The sculptures in the Temple Complex are very fine and detailed, such as carvings in Borobudur Temple. Overall the Plaosan Temple Complex is surrounded by a rectangular ditch measuring 440 meters X 270 meters. With a trench width of 10 meters and a depth of 2.5 meters. Outside of the trench, there is a rectangular fence with a size of 460 meters X 290 meters, where the findings show that the complex of Plaosan Lor Temple and Plaosan Kidul Temple are part of a temple complex. If, carefully considered, Plaosan Temple has its own special features. Although Plaosan Temple is a Buddhist temple, but architecturally this building has a mixture of Hindu temples in Indonesia. The background of Rakai Pikatan and his wife, Pramordhawardani, who are of different religions, became the basis of the distinctiveness of the architecture of this temple.
