I Belong to Myself

Joshua Tree 2018

Recently while reading Brene Brown’s, Braving the Wilderness, there was a passage about true belonging. It said, “...it became clear that it’s not something we achieve or accomplish with others; it’s something we carry in our heart. Once we belong throughly to ourselves and believe throughly in ourselves, true belonging is ours.” Which led me to think about when and where I feel true belonging. The answer? When I’m wandering, it’s doesn’t matter if I’m in a city or in the mountains if I’m wandering I belong completely to myself. However, National Parks are my ideal wandering space. So each new place just give me a few days to just be and I’ll find my sense of true belonging and that true belonging is always with myself. #womenwhoexplore
