November was mostly dark. Too-short days and long nights. I don’t mind the cold, but the lack of light is hard at this time of year. We had two weekends of rain and gloom, and two weekends with lovely light, so many of these photos are from the latter. November was about making the most of the light as autumn shifted into winter.

There was this walk at John Muir Country Park when the tide was far out, and we were able to walk around the bay as the sun was setting. This has become our favourite walk.

This vast empty beach - see the figures for scale. It was getting dark, but first, there was this dreamy pink-toned sky. And in the distance, you can just see Bass Rock. See a different perspective of this a little later in this story with a photo taken at DRIFT café, which sits on the cliff top above Canty Bay.

There’s nothing quite like a spontaneous beach shake, right?

Your iPhone is like better than mine. Always great shots you come up with.

  • rg117

Another beautiful month...and lovely scenes that slide us ever so gently into winter...

  • Ginan

    Wow. Beautiful

  • finknottle

What dramatic skies and soft toned landscapes!!! Each month has its own Charme, right?

  • Loesje

What a lovely place, what is the name of this village?

  • copperline

The city photos are all from Edinburgh @Loesje - everything else is from East Lothian, just down the east coast in Scotland. ☺️

  • copperline

It does @finknottle it really does. This month has less charm as there was so much gloom, but that made us *really* appreciate the light when it appeared!

  • copperline

    Thank you @Ginan 🙏🏻✨

  • copperline

Thank you @rg117 🙏🏻 November was a bit of a tough month as half of it was in gloom and rain, but it made the light moments feel even better. But yes, it definitely had that sense of shifting between autumn and winter - by the close of November it was definitely winter!

  • copperline

Thank you @havwoods ✨ I’ve literally just upgraded my phone so will be interesting to see if the difference is clear in next month’s story!

  • havwoods

You have an iPhoneX now? If so, i need to work on mine urgently. So good these shots of yours. It looks like you add some professional skills.

  • copperline

Well these shots are all 7 Plus. I’ve for the iPhone XS Max and can already see a big difference from a few days of photos (have had no light here to go out and take photos - weather has been awful until today) so December’s should look a little different. The 7 Plus was a great phone but more challenging with light and contrast - it wasn’t good in low light. @havwoods

  • copperline

Thanks for sharing this one @Steller@jordanfoy 🕺🏻

  • Havwoods2

Hi @copperline , I am here again. This is the best I have done so far with iPhoneX. There was plenty of light. Your iPhone7+ appears to be better to me. https://steller.co/s/8s7djvJTweW

What a beautiful place @havwoods ! And what gorgeous light ✨ So autumnal with all these colours. The iPhone X is brilliant - I was longing for one from when it was released 😅 but had to hang fire until now. Only difference - I’m guessing here - is maybe the edit. I edit in Lightroom - very slight, nothing heavy as I don’t want photos to look consciously edited, but it lets you fine tune highlights/shadow/contrast etc. And I use the selective tool to define areas - clarity for eg.

  • copperline

@havwoods it’s all just finding the wee edits that work to make it closer to what your eye reads. That’s how I think on it anyway. But everyone has a different approach - that’s just me! ✨

  • havwoods

Fiona, thanks. I ll try it. Next Friday in Preston for a Xmass party. Let me Test your lights on Saturday morning.

  • copperline

Oh yessss @havwoods enjoy! Although, how is Christmas happening so soon?! I still can’t believe it!

  • copperline

    Thank you! @ExploreSteller 🤗✨

  • joey_es

Amazing scenery!! cobble stoned streets are my favorite

  • copperline

Not as dramatic as yours @joey_es - you have an amazing head for heights! 😲- but yes, some lovely scenes in this neck of the woods. And cobbles are my favourite too ☺️

  • kimtravels

    this is amazing!

  • copperline

Thank you so much @kimtravels ☺️🙏🏻 Lovely to look back on lighter and brighter days!
