Central Oregon

One Couple On the Road

My partner & I spent nearly two weeks exploring Central Oregon. We camped out of our truck, bathed in creeks, fell in love with Bend, & had a damn good time.

Where Love Grows

Starting out as a long-distance relationship, our β€œdates” often came in the form of camping. Early on, with butterflies ensued, we met in Oregon and camped around Mt Hood. There really isn’t a better way to get to know someone than camping in the National Forest, from discovering quirks & habits to dealing with #1 & #2. (Ladies... SheWe, to the rescue!) The second time around, we met in Bend and camped all around Central Oregon for twelve days before moving to the Rockies in Colorado. Trust me, it was just as good as the first time. We could go back again & again. I’m convinced Oregon might be where love grows.

Clearwater Falls, Douglas County

Being broke & in college, it was important to make this a low budget trip. We camped in the National Forest where there are no fees, bathed in creeks until the last day where we went to a local rec center before driving to Colorado, & we ate, for the most part, budget friendly food. It was true dirtbag style camping, and it was amazing.

Crater Lake National Park Just two hours from Bend, Crater Lake is as phenomenal as it was cold. To watch the sunrise over the lake is a breathtaking experience, from the scenery of the clouds painting the sky to the frigid air that stings the lungs. Crater Lake is a must see in Central Oregon.

Tamolitch Blue Pool This vibrantly colored lake is accessible via the McKenzie River Trail near McKenzie Bridge, OR. A moderate 3.7 mile out and back hike features incredible scenes throughout, such as fairytale-like glowing green moss and massive, jaw-dropping trees. As picturesque as it gets.

Can you spot me? πŸ‘€

& sometimes, off-roading = flat tire

So, we stopped for some good beer @ 10 Barrel Brewing Co in Bend, Oregon.

Until next time, Oregon. β™‘
