Tales from Tbilisi

Having dipped a toe in the Balkans last September, this year, the Caucasus could wait no longer. My story begins in Tbilisi.

Old Tbilisi

Dominated by the Narikala Fortress, the streets of Old Tbilisi are immersed in the architecture of centuries of both independence and occupation.

The Tbilisi skyline is punctuated by Church architecture reflecting the country’s orthodox Christian faith.

In the 6th century Anchiskhati Basilica, the oldest in Tbilisi, the Sunday service, conducted in polyphonic choral chant, is exquisite.
