over vilnius, lithuania
'scuse me while I kiss the sky
I dreamt I could fly
so I came to vilnius, one of the only capitals in Europe over which you can balloon.
sky above, earth below, fire within
it's the little things that make life big
now let's get carried away
and into the woods..
nobody can be uncheered when in a balloon
our pilot points out Belarus, just a gust away
not a fan of heights, but with brave wings, she flies
keep calm and carry on
we're not the only ones with inflated senses of selves
best seats to watch the big game
here in Lithuania, anything is possible. the sky is the limit.
heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads
back to earth; a hard landing on side. all safe and ready for a drink
even when grounded, dream up, my boy
first human-carrying balloon invented by Montgolfier brothers in Paris in 1783. when balloon crashed into a field the farmers thought an invasion and prepared to fight. but then the pilot pulled out the champagne, and all the world was good
and the tradition continues
"when once you have tasted flight you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward"
