Made with milk, cream, and sugar, gelato is basically an ice cream made in the Italian style. However, there are several differences between gelato and ice cream. It is generally lower in fat, contains less air and more flavoring that gives gelato a density and richness like no other ice cream.
Gelato can be served in cup, cone, sandwich, cake, pie, or even on a stick.
People crave for different flavors, but there are some flavors that most people like and remain popular through the decades even centuries. The traditional flavors of gelato consist vanilla, chocolate, hazelnut, pistachio, tiramisu, custard (cream), and stracciatella (vanilla gelato with crunchy chocolate pieces on top or throughout the gelato).
