We don’t see much snow in Edinburgh. The last time I can recall snow lying here was seven years ago, when it hung around for weeks, piled up alongside every street. And then, last week, the ‘Beast from the East’ swept across the UK. The forecast showed snow in the Lothians but still I thought, in Edinburgh… really?

And then it started snowing. And snowing. On the second day, I headed out for a photo walk: through the New Town to Stockbridge, and along the Water of Leith to Dean Village.

February 28

It wasn’t snowing as I was leaving Dean Village, so I thought I’d walk up into the city centre to get a few photo of Edinburgh Castle with its rock blanketed in snow. Yes, it’s a cliché but there are some photos you just have to take, right? Only the snow had another idea….

Until next time then snow. It may be a few more years until we see you again...
