Perfect for Mother’s Day

Cherry and Almond heart biscuits

These lovely biscuits are a perfect treat for a special occasion. If you have a little helper in the kitchen they will love getting their hands stuck in and cutting out the heart shapes.

Ingredients: 100g icing sugar 200g plain flour 50g cornflour 50g ground almonds 250g cold butter 50g glacé cherries 1/2 tsp almond essence 8tbs jam, sieved

Sieve the icing sugar, cornflour, flour and mix with the ground almonds

Cut the butter into cubes and rub into the dry ingredients

Finely chop the cherries and add to the mix with the almond essence

Mix together into a dough and turn out on to a floured surface

Roll out the dough and use a cutter to make heart shapes, carefully place the hearts on a lined baking tray and bake at 180 for 8 minutes

After 8 minutes remove the biscuits from the oven and use a bottle top to make a circle indentation in the middle

Fill the circles with jam and return to the oven for a further 3 minutes

When the biscuits are done, cool on the tray for a few minutes before transferring to a wire cooling rack
