Cyclades Islands

Milos Island is perhaps one of my favourite Islands in the Cyclades. A volcanic island in the Aegean sea, it is often overshadowed by the likes of Santorini and Mykonos. If you want to see the real Greece, explore rough terrain and less crowds; Milos should be on your travel bucket list. If you love history and exploration there is so much to see. Did you know The Venus de Milo was found here and you can visit the location of its discovery!

Plaka is the capital of Milos. Set on a hill, you can walk to the top to visit the ruins of the Venetian castle and watch the sun set over the Aegean sea. If you like spectacular views, visit Utopia Cafe where the view is breathtaking. People cue to get in here because of it so get here on time. Also they have the best Cherry drink! If you are looking for dinner, walk 10-15 mins to the village of Tripiti to have the most amazing meal of your life at Barriello!

There are lots of beaches in Milos and one to visit is Sarakiniko. Forget sand, this is completely made up of white volcanic rock and resembles Mars; which is why its one of the most photographed places on the island. The whole island has beaches all around but you will need to hire a car. The north part of the island is doable with small transport however the southern part requires a 4 x 4.
