The "Strada delle 52 Gallerie" (Road or the First Army) is a path of extraordinary historical and environmental interest, a military mule built during the Great War on the Pasubio in Vicenza Prealps, built in record time in the year 1917 by the 33rd Company Miners V ° Engineers Regiment

The Mount Pasubio is a massive limestone, compact and square shape, located on the border between the provinces of Vicenza and Trento in Italy. It was the scene of bloody battles during the Great War

The primary purpose of the construction of the "Road tunnel" was to allow the passage of people and baggage in any season and in any weather, covered from view and from the offense of the enemy, in contrast to the street of "Scarubbi", being exposed to the sight of Austrian artillery observers.

The road, military engineering achievement and boldness, it was invented by Captain L. Motti and designed by Ing. G. Zappa. The successor of the latter, Captain C. Picone, defined it as the result of "tenacious will, of exemplary work, sacrifice and moving spirit of emulation between the teams of engineers involved in the construction miners". Work began in March 1917 and ended in December following.

The "Strada delle 52 Gallerie", marked by the CAI trail 366, can be covered on foot only in summer.
