Bologna is the capital and largest city of Emilia-Romagna Region in northern Italy. It is the seventh most populous city in Italy. Famous for its towers and lengthy porticoes, Bologna has a well preserved historical centre thanks to a careful conservation policy which began at the end of 1970s

The Basilica of San Petronio is the main church of Bologna. It dominates Piazza Maggiore and it is the tenth-largest church in the world by volume. --------------->

The skyline of Bologna with its distinctive towers was unmistakeable. It must have been like the Manhattan of the medieval ages! There were twin towers here too, only these have held up to centuries of war and become the symbol of the city (Asinelli and Garisenda Towers). Torre degli Asinelli was built in the 11th century. Named after the family that commissioned it, it is over 97 metres, making it the tallest in Italy.
