In the summer you can enjoy the white heights of the Mont Blanc massif from the Chamonix valley and the lift-accessible highland trails offer thrilling panoramas to hikers and other high-altitude thrill seekers

From Montenvers at 1,913m a cable car takes you down to Grotte de Glace

Les Houches Only 4km from Chamonix you find the pretty village of Les Houches. It is a typical mountain village with a lovely church and old wooden Savoyard farmhouses around. There are a number of pleasant bars and good restaurants for quiet evenings out and buses run in and out of Chamonix all day.

From Les Houches you can take the Bellevue cable car and connect to the Tramway du Mont-Blanc and go up to the Nid d'Aigle

The town centre of Chamonix Mont Blanc is a relaxing place with lovely tea houses, coffee shops, fine dining restaurants, a lively bustling atmosphere and shopping

You can take the Aiguille du Midi cable car to 3,842m and see the world from the top of Europe's highest cable car station

With cable car you can visit Le Brévent at 2,525m and have the fantastic panoramic view of Mont Blanc. Plan Praz at 1,999m has a beautiful take-off area for paragliding.

The valley offers 350 km of hiking trails adapted to all levels

Visit also the other small villages in the valley with the Chamonix Multipass. By the local bus you can go to Argentière 8 km north of Chamonix and walk back. There is a beautiful footpath named 'Petit Balcon Nord' that links Argentière to Chamonix on the North side at a heigh of around 200m above the valley. Argentière has also a cable car and the impressive Argentière Glacier.

The Mont Blanc Express is a scenic mountain train route that runs from St Gervais all the way down to Martigny in Switzerland
